Suspended From eBay By Bill Cobb!
I was the original Tampa Bay Area eBay Car Dealer starting in 1999.
eBay was the best thing to come along back then.. I studied the site and worked the principal the site was founded on “everyone has something good to contribute” I made sure every vehicle I put on eBay was 100% Green Light perfect and would be sure to please its purchaser.

After this first car was sold I soon became the local “eBay Man” and listed cars for several dealers I knew. Check out this Video Clip of a Rolls Royce I was auctioning on eBay in late 1999.
As I sit here working on this website it brings back memories of arguments I got into with some of my consignors when I turned down a car I didn’t feel was good enough for eBay! I felt that my eBay reputation was worth more than just trying to make a quick buck!
It was really rewarding to know a complete stranger would buy “a car” sight unseen on my good word that it was “just as described” and either have it shipped home, or fly into our local airport where I was waiting to pick them up. We would drive back to my office where I did the paperwork and issued them a legal temp tag to drive home on. I met so many nice people from all across the country. And I am proud to say none of them had as much as a flat tire on the drive home. It was a truly rewarding experience!
The site worked well until around 2003 when everything started going down hill. Between the Scams and Deadbeat Bidders it became tough to get one sold. But I still plugged away trying to make the best of it..
Meanwhile eBay Support just kept getting worse with canned responses that usually didn’t even address the question being asked, and you couldn’t call them on the phone
either. They were the largest site on the net, and were rude and arrogant with the “we don’t care what you think attitude” If you don’t like it go elsewhere!
I was unfairly suspended by eBay.. after they killed this old town car listing claiming someone hijacked my sellers account!

I listed old cars under this ID because I got tired of being extorted by scamming buyers demanding $$ after the sale, or receive negative feedback! And eBay is absolutely no help if you are being extorted! I also have a static IP that would have tracked me listing the car as well as 2 others on another ID!
Wouldn’t it be simple to just pick up the phone and call to verify that it was my listing? No.. they just killed it and sent their generic canned email!
I lost my temper over this situation and sent a pretty nasty email to Bill Cobb and a select few others in high up eBay management! I wished I still had that email but deleted a bunch of mail in my sent items folder to free up disk space before deciding to put this website up.
This was Cobb’s response. One I feel was poorly thought out, especially coming from the President of eBay North America!

They just suspended all my accounts the next day!

Any good company would have worked with me to settle this problem and act in good faith to keep a good member happy, especially since it was their error, but not eBay.. They just tossed me out like a sack of garbage!
As I said in my email to Bill Cobb the site could be so much better!
Check out the eBay Motors Message Board and see for yourself all the complaints and postings of scam listings! It’s just the same old whining about getting ripped off!
If you are just a Buyer on eBay you will never understand the frustration of dealing with them! They just don’t care about anything or anyone, Just Money! And as long as they remain the biggest on the net, they will never change their attitude toward their
members!
They just push you to your mental limit with their stupid mistakes and canned responses! And you can’t even talk with a support rep on the phone! It is a wonder some psycho hasn’t gone into eBay headquarters and started shooting everyone in sight!
eBay does not value their Quality Sellers that helped build eBay into the huge market place it is now! All that matters to them is the $$$!!
The old saying is often true, Without Customers their would be no Business! And Business goes where it is Earned and Respected! Where eBay is heading from here is anyone’s best guess.. But the Trust and Principals eBay was founded on are
fading fast!

Here is the Town Car’s Buyer from West Virginia, with DOC on the right..
I was able to make a sale on the Lincoln after the listing was killed. A potential bidder called soon after and made a reasonable offer and I sold it to him. He loved the car and it was a rewarding experience for both of us.
Your comment’s on this blog are appreciated. And please visit our forums to discuss the problems eBay members have to deal with!
Thank You, Ed “DOC” Koon.

‘Suspended From eBay By Bill Cobb”!
yup, sorry about your ecperiance!
we just got shut down for no reason. and or 7 negitives within 2 weeks, people were trying to scam us..and we got the boot for being scammed, never makes sence!
Doc,
That is too bad!!! I am going through EXACTLY the same thing right now with them. I had no idea what I had done and got ZERO help from them in getting an explanation. My PayPal account was even frozen. I was an E-Bay seller for more than 2 years with nearly 2 thousand feedbacks and a 98.6% approval rating….What a terrible experience and there are MANY MANY more out there just like you and me. I wonder if there is ANYTHING we can do….
You all have my sympathy…and of course it is due to the fact that I too have gone through and continue to go through the same thing. Lets face it…eBay has done a great job at monopolizing the market…they suck in sellers, who then commit themselves to building a business full time with eBay (through their conferences, seller tools, articles, etc). After a while sellers realize that there really is no protection for them. The buyer is not necessarily always right…and in the case of their flawed feedback system buyers unfairly post negative/nuetral feedback without regard of the consequences. Does that negative feedback truly represent that transaction? Probably not. And why does ebay recognize neutral feedback as negative buyer dissatisfaction? The last time I checked neutral did not mean negative or positive..hence NEUTRAL! If your feedback receives more then 5% buyer dissatisfaction (negative and neutral combined) your account is shut down….and that is even if they are all from you buyer….THAT IS A TERRIBLE SYSTEM! I also experience the same template based response each and every time I tried to contact ebay support. They are not helpful and refuse to answer your direct question. Their aim is not to resolve the issue but to find the fastest way to shut you down so that they don’t “waste their time” on you. Think about this….it is more cost effective for them to shut you down then to waste employees time and in effect ebays money on trying to help each seller.
And have you tried using the powerseller support phone number? Its BS. They tout this number as being a huge benefit of being a powerseller…and its NOT! Each of my questions was responded with…”I don’t have access to that information” and “I am not allowed to give you that information”. By the way…my question was: “what did I do wrong and how can I fix this ASAP”. I am not kidding…it was always funny.
I too am confident that there’s a huge pocket of people who continue to suffer the same fate…LET’S DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! Let’s band together and fight ebay. Sellers deserve better customer support willing to resolve issues and not resort to suspending accounts…we also need a more efficient feedback system that truly reflects the sale.
Hey, you guys CAN fight back. I have a FREE guide on my site on how to screw ebay/paypal royally by creating multiple fake accounts, how to bypass all their protection, how to use fake info when registering, basically how to create an unlimited amount of accounts under whatever information you want.

WE NEED A PETITION TO HAVE BILL COBB FIRED. MAYBE STOCKHOLDERS WOULD LISTEN. SINCE HE TOOK OVER AS PRESIDENT THIS YEAR EVERYTHING HAS GONE TO HELL. SELLERS ARE LEAVING I KNOW FOR A FACT. I AM ONE OF THEM. I HOPE TO HAVE MY STORE MOVED TO A NEW SITE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. COBB HAS TURNED EVERYTHING UPSIDE DOWN. WHAT’S WORSE IS THE CHANGES ARE BEING MADE SO RAPIDLY THAT THEY ARE BEING DONE IN A HALF-ASS WAY. OFTEN FEATURES DO NOT WORK, SOFTWARE IS FULL OF GLITCHES. I WISH I’D STARTED ON AMAZON YEARS AGO INSTEAD OF PIGBAY.
